The ads for this special caught my attention because they were set to one of my favorite U2 songs, Pride (In the Name of Love)!, but I missed the cable premiere of the show last Sunday (2nd hour of the show conflicted with John Adams and The Tudors). Luckily, there will be an encore presentation this Saturday at 4PM EDT on the History Channel. The previous link will take you to a special History.com KING minisite chocked full of information about the content and the making of the show. It looks like a show that is well worth watching.
I ran across this video of John Legend performing Pride (In the Name of Love)! for the KING special on the U2.com site. I love John’s arrangement of this song for piano and solo voice, and his performance is second only to U2’s rendition. The video editing which splices actual clips of MLK Jr into the recording of the song is quite moving.
