We went to see Barack speak yesterday at the Backyard. The weather was almost the same as it was the last time Obama visited Austin in February – cool and drizzly, when there were over 20,000 of us at Auditorium Shores. The crowd was smaller, but the venue was packed to capacity. The message was more forceful and focused this time however. There was more specificity to the platform and the plans for executing Obama’s new policies. The crowd was enthusiastic and receptive. Braving the rain, as well as a long walk from the Backyard parking lot to the venue.
Speaking of the parking lot….what a drag getting out of there after the rally. We got to the rally late, so we were at the very back of the lot. There were about 3000 cars packed into a lot that had just one entrance, and no one directing traffic. It literally took us an hour to get out of the lot. Luckily, the crowd was patient and pleasant to hang out with as we waited for the lot to empty out. Proving once again that Obama folks are a great bunch of people. Old, young, black, white, yellow, and brown, they were all there – because He was there.
